The thirty-fourth (and current) President of the American Branch is Michael P. Scharf, who was re-elected for a two-year term in October 2024. The thirty-fifth President will be Amity Boye, who was nominated as the President-Elect in October 2024. She will take on the Presidential role in October 2026.

The American Branch uses a unique troika approach to leadership. In this troika approach, the three individuals who occupy the positions of past president, current president, and president-elect all serve as leaders of the Branch contemporaneously.

The Branch operates under the direction of an Executive Board. The Chair of the Board is Leila Nadya Sadat. The Vice-Presidents are William Aceves, Christina M. Cerna, Chiara Giorgetti, Jennifer Trahan, and Peter K. Yu. The Treasurer is Houston Putnam Lowry. M. Imad Khan is the Branch’s Secretary, and Mortimer Sellers and Milena Sterio are the Co-Directors of Studies. Freya Doughty-Wagner is the Chief Operating Officer, and Laurie Farid is the Membership Officer.

The Branch currently has eight Student Ambassadors who assist with International Law Weekend and other events, as well as blogging and proofreading publications. The current Student Ambassadors are Rachel Behling, Washington University in St. Louis School of Law; Alec Bogash, Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law; Zoë Bussewitz, University of Georgia School of Law; Melissa Chalhoub, Rutgers Law School, Newark; Robert Larson, University of Utah S. J. Quinney College of Law; Joseph W. Lisa, Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law; Laís Ramirez Santoro, Temple University Beasley School of Law; and Lauren Resner, Northeastern University School of Law.
