Madaline George Promoted to Chief Operating Officer

July 20, 2023 Posted by ABILA MEDIA OFFICER ABILA News, Featured

The American Branch is delighted to announce that on July 13, 2023, the Board of Directors voted unanimously to promote Madaline George to the new position of Chief Operating Officer.

Following her promotion, American Branch President Michael Scharf stated, “By creating the Chief Operations Officer position, the ABILA Board of Directors has taken an important step in further professionalizing the organization and providing a foundation for future growth. And the unanimous selection of Madaline George as the first COO will ensure continuity and continued success.”

Madaline has served as the American Branch Membership Officer since 2020 and the International Law Weekend (ILW) Administrative Coordinator since 2021. Her efforts have led to significant growth and reach of the Branch as well as increased engagement with members, patrons, and partners. Members know the tremendous amount of work and coordination she leads to ensure the Branch’s success throughout the year, and the most common sentiment expressed by ILW speakers and participants is praise for her expertise and professionalism in making the event a success.

“Madaline George has been an indispensable member, officer, and supporter of the Branch for a decade. We are thrilled that she has accepted this new position, and know that she will continue to bring her energy, talent, and experience to the Branch as it begins its second century,” said former American Branch President and current Chair Leila Nadya Sadat.

A longstanding and vital member of the American Branch since she joined in 2012 as a JD student at Washington University in St. Louis School of Law, Madaline previously served as American Branch Program Officer from 2018 to 2020. In addition to her work with the Branch, Madaline has lectured and published in the areas of international criminal law, refugee law, human rights, international organizations, and global governance. She is also a consultant for White & Case LLP.

The American Branch congratulates her and wishes her continued success in her well-deserved new role as Chief Operating Officer!
