ABILA Book Award: Christian M. De Vos, Complementarity, Catalysts, Compliance, The International Criminal Court in Uganda, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of Congo

September 23, 2021 Posted by Madaline George ABILA News

The ABILA Book of the Year Award Committee, composed of Mark Janis, Peggy McGuinness, Fernanda Nicola, and Mortimer Sellers (Chair), has chosen a winner of the 2021 Book of the Year Award:

Christian M. De Vos, Complementarity, Catalysts, Compliance, The International Criminal Court in Uganda, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (Cambridge Univ. Press 2021)

The book deals with a topic of importance—the legitimacy and effectiveness of the International Criminal Court—and Dr. De Vos coupled perceptive analytical insight with careful empirical research to reach very persuasive and useful conclusions on the role that complementarity can play in the implementation of international criminal law. This volume amply deserves recognition as “Book of the Year.”

Please join us in congratulating Dr. De Vos on a superb and important contribution to the field of public international law.

Dr. De Vos will be formally recognized for this achievement at the 99th ABILA Members Meeting at International Law Weekend 2021.
